Ingredients
- Dark Brown Sugar, Divided – 1 ½ cups
- Water – 1 cup
- Butter – 1 tablespoon
- Flour – 1 cup
- Baking Powder – 2 teaspoon
- Salt – 1 pinch
- Milk – ½ cup
- Chopped Dates – 1 cup
- Chopped Walnuts – ½ cup
- Whipped Cream/ vanilla ice cream for Serving
Direction
- Combine 1 cup brown sugar and water in a saucepan and cook until it boils
- Remove from heat and add butter
- Mix flour, baking powder, salt, ½ cup sugar in a bowl
- Stir in milk, until smooth
- Add dates and walnuts
- Preheat oven to 350 degree F
- Pour syrup into a 8 to 9 inch baking pan, add butter and bake for 45 minutes
